Jean Paul Egide Martini

Plaisir d’Amour
for double bass and keyboard

Jean Paul Egide Martini (also known as Martini il Tedesco) lived from 1741-1816 and was a successful French court musician and Professor of Composition at the Paris Conservatoire. He is best known for the song “Plaisir d’Amour”, which he wrote in 1780. This classical tune has endured through the years in a number of different arrangements and styles. It has been transcribed for a number of different instruments, Hector Berlioz arranged the piece for orchestra, and it found new life in the Twentieth-Century as the basis for Elvis Presley’s song “Can’t Help Falling in Love” recorded in 1961.

This edition includes two piano parts for performances in either orchestral or solo tuning.
